Sarah Bibbo, ASW, RYT

Psychotherapist Associate (she/her)

West Los Angeles & Online

Sarah guides clients to reconnect with their bodies, reset their nervous systems, and access easy, practical tools that empower them to reclaim control of their lives. She helps to alleviate mind-body conditions and provide a safe harbor for healing and lasting resilience.

Sarah has a Masters in Social Work and combines Somatic Experiencing, CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy and Internal Family Systems. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher and a certified Trauma Sensitive Yoga Instructor (Bessel van der Kolk). She has provided various forms of trauma-informed care for over a decade.

Sarah specializes in anxiety, OCD, chronic pain, depression, relationships and complex trauma. She has worked in intensive treatment settings including UCLA's Child/Adolescent Anxiety, OCD and Tic Disorder Clinic and UCLA’s RNH Intensive Partial Hospitalization program.

Having overcome a chronic health condition myself, I understand both the complexities of psychosomatic conditions and the powerful transformation that is possible.

Sarah’s approach focuses on mindfulness and somatic techniques and draws on her background in design, movement and the creative arts. Previously she worked as a fashion designer for Calvin Klein in New York City and as a costume designer and production designer in Los Angeles.

As a lover of the arts, I innately understand the therapeutic effects of drawing, dancing and playing.  I've never understood why these practices are erased when reaching adulthood.

Treatment Approach

I teach practices that support your nervous system to move toward regulation, or homeostatic balance. These practices teach you how to be with challenging sensations, allowing energy to shift and release, rather than accumulate in your body. Over time, your window of tolerance expands so that your nervous system naturally spends more time in parasympathetic, or “rest and digest,” rather than being stuck in the sympathetic or “fight or flight” as you move through the world .

In the process, I help you to unburden the original traumas that live on as hypersensitivity to threat. To do this, we need to meet and befriend the protective parts that over or under react to present situations. With more understanding and acceptance, these parts calm down and start to work together as a team, helping you to become more responsive and vital.

I help you build a personalized tool-kit to manage your symptoms going forward. When you stop fearing your symptoms they lose power over you and they begin to fade. Clients often report forgetting about symptoms as their life comes back into the foreground.

Somatic Therapy helps to discharge Survival Energy and Reduce Chronic Symptoms such as Pain & Discomfort
