Angie Bradshaw, LMFT
Licensed Psychotherapist (she/her)
West Los Angeles & Online
I offer a compassionate, integrative approach to healing. I bring warmth, curiosity, and creativity into sessions, and tailor my approach to each person’s unique needs.
My training spans multiple modalities, including attachment theory, family systems, psychodynamic theory, somatic psychology, mindfulness, expressive arts, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and play therapy. I’m currently in the three-year Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) program, a body-based approach that supports healing from trauma and chronic stress.
I trained in adolescent and family psychology under the supervision of Dr. Wendy Denham, and I trained personally with Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score. I also trained at Counseling West, a community clinic, and served as a child and family therapist within a charter elementary and middle school.
My work is grounded in helping clients understand unconscious patterns, restore the mind-body connection, and explore how their family systems and environments have shaped them.
With children, I draw on play and art-based methods, while partnering closely with parents to support the parent-child relationship.
Previous careers in education and advertising, as well as time spent living abroad, add depth to my perspective. I taught visual art to ages 2–18 in school settings in Los Angeles, including preschool, public schools, and independent schools. And before that, I worked in brand strategy for advertising agencies in New York and Los Angeles. I also spent five years traveling and exploring wild places.
Outside of my practice, I enjoy making art, practicing yoga, and spending time in nature. I live with my family in Santa Monica.
Clients often share that they feel both supported and gently challenged in our work together—that they are given space to find their own way, with tools, insight, and care along the journey.

Treatment Approach
I teach practices that support your nervous system to move toward regulation, or homeostatic balance. These practices teach you how to be with challenging sensations without bracing to allow energy to shift and release, rather than accumulating in your body. Over time, your window of tolerance expands so that your nervous system naturally spends more time in parasympathetic, or “rest and digest,” even as you move through the world .
In the process, I help you to unburden the original traumas that live on as hypersensitivity to threat. To do this, we need to meet and befriend the protective parts that over or under react to present situations. With more understanding and acceptance, these parts calm down and start to work together as a team, helping you to become more responsive and vital.
I help you build a personalized tool-kit to manage your symptoms going forward. When you stop fearing your symptoms they lose power over you and they begin to fade. Clients often report forgetting about symptoms as their life comes back into the foreground.
